| This CD is an excellent introduction to the chamber music of Enrique Granados, (1867-1916) and presents for the first time the complete versions of the Quinteto Opus 49, Romanza, Spanish Dance No. 10, and a Bach Chorale arrangement. The CD is the product of extensive research from different sources and archives of the original manuscripts to these scores. The pianist, Mac McClure took on this task, and immediately saw that the works were not often performed because the original manuscripts were incomplete or poorly edited and located in different institutions; such as the Music Museum of Barcelona and the Center for Musical Documentation or the Marshall Academy. Outstanding among the eight pieces on this CD is the Quintet Op. 49 which reflects an expressive inspiration and the true musical gift of Granados. - Columna Musica (translated from Spanish) | |||||
