Montserrat Caballe is one of the most memorable voices of 20th century opera. Her rich, powerful voice led her from minor roles to leading lady status. This collection of Italian arias and duets, performed with legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti, is ample testament to her place in the history of opera. These performances, dating from her heyday between 1974 and 1984, show a woman with a deep understanding of both showmanship and technique. The stage loved Caballe, as did the critics. She evokes passion with her every breath, a talent heightened in her duets as she and Pavarotti play off each other wonderfully. THE GREAT VOICE OF CABBALLE does a great service to opera lovers, providing another chance to enjoy these wonderful performances. She is truly one of the great divas of our time. |
