Notes & Reviews Back to Top
Our program aims to provide a glimpse into the musical world of mid-eighteenth century Scotland during the heyday of The Scottish Enlightenment. The flute was at the height of its popularity in Scotland, and native composers were drawing from the deep well of their own traditional music, blending it with classical forms and Italian ideas of counterpoint and harmony to produce a style that embodies the best of both ideas. (Chris Norman, 2003)
