Notes & Reviews Back to Top
This exquisitely staged television production of Mozart's masterpiece supports the argument that Don Giovanni is the greatest opera ever written. The magnificent cast of singing actors is headed by Mario Petri in the title role, Teresa Stich-Randall as Donna Anna, Leyla Gencer as Donna Elvira, Graziella Sciutti as Zerlina, Luigi Alva as Don Ottavio, and Sesto Bruscantini as Leporello. Heinz Borst as the Commendatore and Renato Cesari as Masetto round out the cast. The Orchestra sinfonica e coro di Milano della Radiotelevisione Italiana are under the direction of Francesco Molinari Pradelli. From the archives of RAI (1960). 170 min., Black & White.

Optional subtitles in English, French and German.
