Notes & Reviews Back to Top
[A] fitting tribute to Arleen Augér, a singer whose beautiful soprano voice has merited the critical acclaim that it has received over many years. Her musicianship, imaginative phrasing, and intelligent use of vocal colors have been matched by her warm and rounded tonal quality... [A] smooth and elegant account [of Chants d'Auvergne]...

-- David Denton, FANFARE [11/2000, reviewing Virgin 61742]

-------------------------------------

The lullaby (Brezairola) suits [Augér] admirably, and some of the others, such as Uno jionto postouro, are languishingly beautiful. In Bailéro she varies the volume well from verse to verse, and in a gently playful song such as Lou coucut there is plenty of fun.

-- Gramophone [8/1988]
