"Known for his Kitten on the Keys and a raft of other jazzy parlor-piano pieces back in the Jazz Age, Confrey was a precocious virtuoso who became a musical star for decades. Some of his pieces sound terribly difficult but they were actually not so difficult to master and therefore very popular for ripping off on the piano found in many homes at the time. The 24 selections here (from a pianist who evidently could only muster one z in his name instead of two) include his big hit plus another hit, Dizzy Fingers, an African Suite, another suite called Moods of a New Yorker, and a later far-out ditty from the year he died, Fourth Dimension. Great ivory-ticklin' fun that shouldn't be forgotten as part of our American musical heritage."
