Notes & Reviews Back to Top
"Recorded in the studio in 1947, [the Gershwin's] sound, aside from slight dryness and lack of stereo spread, is remarkably fine for its vintage. I have not heard Bernstein’s Columbia recordings of the work, but this one made for RCA with an ad hoc orchestra, is wonderfully jazzy, animated, and idiomatic. For both Bernstein and Gershwin, this is a welcome resurrection."
