| Whilst working on previous compilations in the Guild ‘Golden Age of Light Music’ series, it has not been uncommon to come across many recordings where a particular soloist plays an important role. In fact there are numerous examples of a certain instrument greatly enhancing a performance. Therefore the idea has gradually developed that it might be enjoyable to assemble a collection where listeners could hear how different arrangers have created scores where a soloist is an essential ingredient in the work.
