"Handel’s Op. 3 set of Concerti grossi are given exceptionally spirited performances here, benefiting from the pungent but also plangently expressive tone of the period instruments. The slow movements are beautifully realised, the fast ones invigorating, with extremely brisk tempi and trenchant, even fierce, articulation." -- Barry Millington, BBC Music Magazine

Excellent period instrument performancesMarch 5, 2015By Paul Chummers (San Jose, CA)See All My Reviews"My baseline performances of these works is the Marriner/ASMF recording from the mid-60s. I wanted a newer, authentic version and this recording is very satisfactory in that regard. Marc Minkowski and his ensemble offer quite thrilling performances with sound quality that is only a little less than top notch."Report Abuse
