invaluable starter kit December 1, 2014 By Don D. (Albuquerque, NM) See All My Reviews "a great starter kit for those just starting to collect Wagner recordings. The Konya Lohengrin has yet to be beat and Rita Gorr's Ortrud is mighy powerful. Some of the other recordings are not the best out but still all the music is there and each recording contains a performance or two that really stands out." Report Abuse
Useful Collection May 24, 2014 By Louis Galie (Leander, TX) See All My Reviews "A good collection of favorite Wagner operas, most with solid casts under established conductors. Collections of arias and scenes by Winbergh, Melchior, Hoffman and Traubel add value to the set. the "Tannhauser without words" made me laugh." Report Abuse
Could have been an exceptional buy November 17, 2013 By G. Lefever (Chicago, IL) See All My Reviews "The selections as pertaining to the operatic Wagner are very weak. Tannhauser is not even included. Why not include Bernstein's exceptional Tristan and Isolde? The original jacket aspect is appealing but not enough to offset a poorly executed set. Some of the performances are satisfying but you can obtain the individual cds at a reasonable singular price. I anticipated a treasure. Instead I received a poorly executed set. Not recommended."
